Sketch Planes in uMake

video lesson

Working with Sketch Planes

Imagine being able to easily move the plane on which you sketch in 3D space. You can do this in uMake with relative ease.

To create a sketch plane, simply tap and hold anywhere on the canvas, or on a curve, until you see a small red dot and some dotted lines. You have now created a sketch plane. The red dot represents the central origin around which a new ‘sketch plane’ will appear. Depending on the position of the camera (which you control with the orbit button) the sketch plane will change orientation, giving you a range of possibilities to sketch curves and shapes in 3D space, offset from the standard axes.

As sketch planes are a bit tricky to write about, we highly recommend watching the video above to get a better understanding of how to work with them.
